On Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October 30, 2011 LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes hosted a Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) weekend. LA Plaza celebrated Dia de los Muertos with an altar installation by artist Andres Montoya themed Musica de los Muertos, paying homage to Mexican and Mexican American musicians and music.

It was a two-day celebration with free music, dance, magic and art workshops for the entire family.

On Saturday, October 29, the celebration included an unveiling of the Musica de los Muertos altar, music by DJ Jesus Barbosa, face painting, and several art workshops including making and designing: calavera masks, puppets, and memory boxes.

On Sunday, October 30 the celebration continued with entertainment by Pio Pico Middle School, Xicana song and drum group performances by In Lak Ech, Xipe Totec Aztec dance group and Magician Daniel Perez. The fun didn't stop there, we'll also had puppets, nichos by LAartlab and free churros courtesy of Mr. Churro.

We were also offering discounted admission to view our galleries
