Be part of History! Join our Volunteer Team! Volunteers are one of LA Plaza’s richest resources, bringing their diverse backgrounds and talents to enhance visitors’ experiences of our exhibitions, programs and events. Volunteers at LA Plaza experience history, develop new skills, establish rewarding relationships and are part of exciting cultural and educational programs. Volunteer opportunities are available year-round, on weekdays and weekends, and in an array of areas. Program Requirements Prospective volunteers should be at least 18 years of age, passionate about working with people, and willing to make a six-month commitment for a minimum of 8 hours a month. However, positions do vary with regard to hours, and arrangements can be made to accommodate individual schedules.
Position Descriptions
- Engagement Guides use their enthusiasm to shape a highly interactive educational experience at LA Plaza. Engagement Guides encourage visitors of all ages to reflect upon and examine themes, and to actively participate in the learning experience of LA Plaza's exhibitions and garden.
- Art Workshop Volunteers help students explore the subjects and themes of LA Plaza's exhibitions and installations. Volunteers assist as students make cultural connections and learn about history through hands-on studio art activities. Studio art instruction is provided.
- Guest Services Volunteers serve as LA Plaza's on-site ambassadors by promoting LA Plaza's exhibitions, greeting visitors, providing support to Admission and La Tienda, assisting with operations during normal business hours, and answering visitor questions. Requires some customer service and POS (point-of-sale) experience, but will train as necessary.
- Special Events Volunteers assist LA Plaza with set-up, production and break-down of special events and community-oriented programs and workshops.
