Community Screening: “Flamin’ Hot”

In partnership with LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, Hulu and Searchlight Pictures present a community screening of Flamin’ Hot, the inspiring true story of Richard Montañez, who as a Frito-Lay janitor disrupted the food industry by channeling his Mexican-American heritage to turn Flamin’ Hot Cheetos from a snack into an iconic global pop culture phenomenon.

The outdoor screening, which is free to the public, is hosted by and will take place at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, 501 North Main Street in downtown Los Angeles on Friday, June 2, 2023. Doors open at 6:00pm.

The screening will be preceded by an extended introduction by the film’s director, Eva Longoria, a founding member of LA Plaza’s Board of Trustees and a noted actress, producer, entrepreneur, and activist. She will be joined by cast members Jesse Garcia, who plays Richard Montañez, and Annie Gonzalez, who plays Richard’s wife, Judy Montañez. Also in attendance will be Richard Montañez, whose awe-inspiring journey was the basis for the feature film.

Guests of the screening at LA Plaza will enjoy Flamin’ Hot Cheeto-inspired dishes created by Tirzah’s Mexi-Terranean Grill available for sale; photo moments including a collection of lowriders, including a ’62 Chevy Impala SS Convertible driven by Richard Montañez; and the West Coast Chicano Soul Sounds of Frankie Firme, host of the web-based “The Second Time Around” show.
