Docs@LAPlaza: Linda Rondstadt: The Sound of My Voice (2019)
With one of the most memorably stunning voices that has ever hit the airwaves, Linda Ronstadt burst onto the 1960s folk rock music scene in her early twenties. In this documentary, highlights will include archival footage and recent recollections from Ronstadt herself. It will also dive into her activism towards same-sex marriage and the rights of undocumented immigrants. There’s a clip of her defending her decision to perform mariachi as an embrace of her Mexican heritage and celebration of its culture, along with her eventual falling-out from the spotlight. Special guest speakers include Ronstadt’s friends and collaborators: David Damian Figueroa, Dan Guerrero, and Patricia Casado. Featuring a musical performance by Mary Alfaro.
