Yucatán, the land of the Maya civilization, is the most intriguing region in the Americas. It is home to the most impressive archeological sites including Chichen Itza, Uxmal, and Coba.

As the center of of the Mundo Maya, Yucatán has maintained its culture, even when the Spanish tried to destroy it.

Recado negro, also known as black recado, is a traditional seasoning paste originating from the Yucatán Peninsula. The ingredients used in recado negro can vary depending on the region, but they typically include toasted chiles, achiote paste, black pepper, oregno, cumin, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, garlic and vinegar.

In this class, students will learn to make their own and take home a taste of Yucatán.
