In this class, students will make a Spam Musubi with an LA twist. You’ll be creating your own musubi with toppings used in LA street snacks. Everyone will have a musubi press and cutting board to press their rice. Cooked Spam and rice will be given in portions to each participant along with topping sauces and spices. For the last 10 years, Chef Doreen Nakama and her husband Chef Adam Martinez owners of East Los Musubi, have been sharing her families’ stories of growing up biracial being of Mexican and Japanese American descent in Los Angeles.
