Mexican-American History Makers with Nancy de los Santos, writer, producer & director and Marissa López, UCLA Professor

In a special En Casa con LA Plaza session, the Mexican-American Cultural Education Foundation will put the spotlight on a Mexican-American History Maker, Nancy de los Santos. Nancy began her television career in Chicago as associate producer, then producer of film critics Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel movie review program. She has written for numerous television shows including “Gotta Kick It Up!” for Disney, “One Hot Summer” for Lifetime and drama series “Resurrection Blvd.” “American Family” and Hulu’s “East Los High.” She’s worked on the iconic Latino features “My Family” and “Selena.” This year, Nancy begins production on her passion project, a Latina Romantic Comedy, “The Answer To My Prayer,” set in San Antonio, Tejas. At the same live event, Mexican-American Role Model Marissa López, professor of English and Chicana/o Studies at UCLA will speak on her the development of Picturing Mexican America, a mobile app that will display images of nineteenth-century Mexican California relevant to users’ locations.
