Celebrate the diversity of historia, arte y cultura de Los Ángeles at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes!  

This special day will encourage families to explore the rich cultural history of the city of angels.  

• Participate in an immersive and interactive Son Jarocho performance with Los Cambalache.   
• Let your inner artist shine with hands-on art workshops.  
• Listen to a special storytime with Katherine Trejo, author of Yefferson, Actually / En realidad, es Yefferson and join Latinx bilingual children’s book company, Lil’ Libros for interactive activities.  
• Explore aerospace history and the wonder of science with the Columbia Memorial Space Center. 
• Jam to the music of Father and “Sun” team DJ Sol and DJ Ani turning beats into family traditions. 
• Enjoy traditional mariachi music by The dA Center for the Arts Mini Mariachi.  
• Receive a free copy of “Taco U.S.A.” or “¡Murales Rebeldes!” signed by author and L.A. Times columnist Gustavo Arellano 
• And be sure to explore the untold and overlooked stories of Los Angeles in LA Plaza’s exhibitions. 

The first 150 children (K-12 grade) to complete an activity guide on the event day will receive a free copy of Vámonos a Los Ángeles, signed by Illustrator Ana Godinez (2:30pm-3:30pm).

This event is in conjunction with The Smithsonian’s Reckoning with Our Racial Past initiative.
