Open House: The Legacy of Cacao

Be among the first to view LA Plaza Cocina’s newest exhibition, The Legacy of Cacao, which focuses on one of the most popular foods in the world, chocolate. The exhibition, which includes precolonial objects along with photographs by noted food and beverage photographer Shava Cueva, follows the evolution of chocolate from its first reference by the Olmec civilization, more than 2,000 years ago, to the present day.

Co-curators Ximena Martin, Director of Programming and Culinary Arts,  and Maite Gomez-Rejón, an educator, writer, and cook, will be on hand to demonstrate how to grind cacao nibs using a traditional Mexican metate. Conchas and hot chocolate will be served. A wide range of chocolate and chocolate-related products, including hand-carved molinillos, olla de barro ceramic pots, and hot chocolate cazuelita candles, will be sold at a 15% discount at LA Tiendita, LA Plaza Cocina’s boutique gift store.
