Plática: Las Chicanas en El Movimiento

Latina and Brown Beret women championed women’s rights, took the lead in mobilizing the community, and their constant outreach were foundational to the success of El Movimiento. They provided radical change to health care, education, political opportunities, and more. Panelists: Gloria Arellanes, Irene Tovar, and Elena Dominguez. Co-moderators: Dr. Priscila Leiva, Assistant Professor of Chicana/o and Latina/o Studies at Loyola Marymount University, and Esperanza Sanchez, associate curator, LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes.

Presented in conjunction with LA Plaza’s exhibition “Patriotism in Conflict: Fighting for Country and Comunidad.”
