Plática: The Making of “Transportapueblos: Companion of the Migrants”

February 25, 2020 |  7:00 pm

In November 2019, the last of a series of nine coyote sculptures positioned along the train route many migrants take on their journey north through Central Mexico, created by Mexican artist Alferedo “LIBRE” Gutierrez, was constructed at El Pueblo de los Angeles and now located to LA Plaza’s Historic Paseo Walkway. Join the artist and others as they present origins of the sculptures and discuss their symbology of safety, hope and unity. Panelists: LIBRE; Jennifer Gutierrez, executive director, Museum of Social Justice; Carmen Zella, principal, Now Art; and representatives from immigrant rights organizations.
