Serpent Song: A Reading with Tia Chucha Press Anthology Poets | Free

Join us as we welcome a range of poets featured in two Tia Chucha Press anthologies: The “Coiled Serpent: Poets Arising from the Cultural Quakes” and “Shifts of Los Angeles & The Wandering Song: Central American Writing in the United States.” Join as we welcome the following poets from both anthologies as they share their poetry:  

  • Luivette Resto is an award-winning poet, a mother of three revolutionary humans, and a middle school English teacher. 
  • Vickie Vértiz, born and raised in southeast Los Angeles, her writing is featured in the New York Times magazine, the Los Angeles Review of Books, McSweeney’s, the Academy of American Poets, and KCET.
  • Lynne Thompson served at Los Angeles Poet Laureate and received a Laureate Fellowship from the Academy of American Poets. 
  • Xochitl-Julisa Bermejo is the daughter of Mexican immigrants raised in San Gabriel, California. Her debut collection was Posada: Offerings of Witness and Refuge (Sundress Publications 2016).
    • Cynthia Guardado (she/her/hers) is a Salvadoran American poet and a tenured Professor of English at Fullerton College.
    • Neelanjana Banerjee’s poetry, fiction, essays and journalism have appeared widely in places like Prairie Schooner, World Literature Today, Teen Vogue, and the Texas Observer, along with many anthologies.
