This conversation and live-streaming program brings together actresses and an emerging director who are challenging Hollywood’s long-standing barriers and reshaping representation for Latinas on screen. Panelists explore how community, creativity, and social media are opening new pathways for authentic storytelling. The program features a spotlight on BRUJITAS, a new TV series in development, highlighting how its creators are leading a cultural shift rooted in visibility, cultural pride, and collective power.

Yvette aka Backstitch Bruja
A designer, storyteller, and digital creator using her platform to amplify culture, community, and creative expression. Through her work on social media, she spotlights film, events, and stories that center women of color, bringing visibility to voices often overlooked. As a Queer Latina and founder of Backstitch Bruja, a gender-fluid and ethically made brand, her work is rooted in advocacy, authenticity, and intention. With a grounded and engaging presence, Yvette creates space for meaningful dialogue.
Daniela Apodaca
Also known as Sunny, Daniela Apodaca is a DACA-recipient director, writer, and visual creative from Mexico City. Influenced by pop culture, subcultures, and the underground, she fuses emotion, rhythm, and identity in her storytelling. Her creative journey began at Santa Monica College, where she found her passion for narrative through radio and podcasting, before evolving into visual storytelling. Daniela works alongside her creative partner, the cinematographer at their production company 8984 Storyworks. Her work explores themes of emotion, identity, and resilience, often with humor and heart.
Hanaa Moosavi
A Queer Arabian Femme Writer/Director hailing from San Diego, California. She has been working with digital storytelling for her whole life, growing since she received her first camcorder at seven years old. Hanaa specializes in horror storytelling, and dabbles across genres to craft thought-provoking narratives that challenge and inspire audiences. Hanaa has gained recognition through several film festival awards. She currently freelances on different productions as well as directing her own creative endeavors.
Natalie Garcia
A first-generation Mexican American writer, actress, and creative visionary rooted in inner healing and collective empowerment. Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, her work is inspired by her community, cultura, and her own lived experience. She is the founder of Chicana in the City, a women-led digital media platform, and the creator and writer of BRUJITAS, a sci-fi series in development. Her storytelling spans fashion, spirituality, and social justice, centering Queer and BIPOC voices. Her debut book, COSMICA: A Poetic Journey to Awakening the Magic Within, has gained a cult following for its exploration of ritual, healing, and self-discovery. Across every artistic medium, Natalie creates work that reclaims power, honors identity, and invites transformation.
Brianna Vazquez
A multifaceted creative Chicana with a passion for culture, self-expression, and storytelling.
Clarissa Vizcaino
An actress passionate about honest storytelling and complex female characters. She’s drawn to roles that explore resilience, vulnerability, and human experience. Outside of acting, she works as a fitness trainer, using movement and wellness to empower women. She’s honored to be part of conversations that uplift women in film.
Millie Del Oro
An AfroLatina actress currently starring as Yasmín in the upcoming series Brujitas. Performing in both English and Spanish, she is passionate about portraying dynamic Black and Latina characters across film, television, and animation. Her work spans action-driven storytelling and voiceover, where she is known for projects that celebrate culture, representation, and vibrant worlds. Millie is also the founder of Tropical Touches, where her love for culture and creativity extends beyond the screen.
Angie Aguirre
A Chicana writer, speaker, and teacher from Pasadena, California. From her poetry to her podcast, she uses her unique and powerful voice to speak life into her community. She believes poetry is medicine. For the last ten years, she has shared that medicine at events around the country and taught writing workshops at universities, nonprofits, and detention centers. Angela hopes to inspire people, particularly young women, to find their voice and to use it. Angela’s book of poetry and writing prompts, Confessions of a Firework, was published in 2016. She has been featured by LACMA, TEDx, The Huffington Post, and The LA Times to name a few.
BRUJITAS is a sci-fi dramedy series in development taking place in the San Fernando Valley about women of color who are no longer asking for permission—to be powerful, to be magical, and to exist on their own terms. The series celebrates culture, sisterhood, and spiritual empowerment through a modern lens, starring an all-Latina cast.
