Dance like nobody’s watching with El Presidente de la Salsa! Enjoy a night of live salsa music featuring Roosevelt Cordova, also known as El Presidente de la Salsa. A Peruvian singer recognized for reviving classic old-school vocal techniques with a creative freestyle style, Cordova has gained strong recognition in the Southern California salsa scene and is widely regarded as one of the top soneros in Los Angeles.
His repertoire includes classic salsa hits such as Así Son Las Mujeres (El Gran Combo), Lluvia (Willie Rosario), Lloré (Héctor Lavoe), and Llegó la Hora (Jimmy Bosch), performed with his own distinctive interpretation.
Latin Gold Records will be onsite offering a selection of music ranging from Latin classics to soul, cosmic jazz, funk, punk, classic rock, and world music.
Doors open at 6 pm with a free salsa dance lesson led by Dancing 101 with Roberto. The music and dancing continue until 11 pm. Bring your chairs, blankets, and best dance moves for a night of music and celebration. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
Super DJ Robby
Born in Havana, Cuba, Robert Rodriguez, known professionally as Super DJ Robby, is one of Los Angeles’ most celebrated salsa DJs. He has performed alongside legendary artists including Oscar D’León, Los Van Van, José Alberto “El Canario,” Marc Anthony, and Tito Nieves, as well as the late icons Celia Cruz and Tito Puente. His international career has taken him to salsa festivals around the world, with performances in cities such as Dubai, Zurich, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.
Summer of Salsa Series
Join us at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes in downtown Los Angeles for an unforgettable series of evenings filled with live music and dancing. Each month features a different live band, along with music by DJ Robby. Start the night with a salsa dance lesson from 6 to 7 pm—no experience is required. Free admission.
