Cine de Oro: El Rebozo de Soledad | Free

Celebrate the Cine de Oro/the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema and their contributions to film with, El Rebozo de Soledad, a 1952 Mexican film directed by Roberto Gavaldón and starring Stella Inda, Arturo de Córdova and Pedro Armendáriz.

In this melodrama, Dr. Alberto Robles, an idealistic city physician living in a rural community ruled by macho customs and feudalistic landowners who falls for Soledad, a farmworker. Before the movie enjoy an evening under the stars with music by Mariachi Lindas Mexicanas, food by Veracruz Tamales y Más, and Cabo Rojo local art vendors, and more.

Luis I. Reyes is a renowned scholar, author, and lecturer who specializes in the history of Latinos in the Hollywood film industry. He is the author or coauthor of several books on film, including Hispanics in Hollywood, Made in Paradise: Hollywood’s Films of Hawaii and the South Seas, and Made in Mexico: Hollywood South of the Border. He has been featured on Turner Classic Movies, CNN, TNT Latin America, NBC, Good Morning America, and NPR’s Latino USA. His articles on film have appeared in DGA Quarterly, Hawaii magazine, the Los Angeles Times and the Oakland Tribune. Reyes lives in Pasadena, CA.

Mariachi Lindas Mexicanas

Mariachi Lindas Mexicanas was founded in Boyle Heights, California in 2007 by musical director Maricela Martínez, a musician with more than 20 years of experience in the ma- riachi business.

Maricela comes from a long family tradition of mariachi musicians from Jalisco, Méexico, where she has been a member of the most prestigious mariachi bands on both sides of the border.

Mariachi Lindas Mexicanas has performed, collaborated and participated in several high- profile projects, including a Latin GRAMMY with Mon Laferte, Martha Stewart & Snoop Dogg’s cookout, Red Bull Music Academy, Netflix, and Phillip Lim among many others.

The goal of Mariachi Lindas Mexicanas is to share this tradition with younger generations around the world.
