Come celebrate the launch of our 30ñera: Thirty Years of the Macondo Writers Workshop in Los Angeles! This special event marks three decades of fostering creativity and community, and we’re excited to celebrate this milestone with you!

SPEAKERS:
Emcee: Monica Palacios-Monica Palacios is a LA based Chicana lesbian writer/performer. Monica is a 2025 and 2024 United States Artists Fellow Nominee. Monica was commissioned by the City of Los Angeles to write a poem and perform it for the Paris Los Angeles Olympiad Project 2024. Her testimonial La Llorona Loca Through My Chicana Lesbian Lens, appears in The Journal of Lesbian Studies March 2023. Monica is featured in the queer documentary STAND UP, STAND OUT: The Making of a Comedy Movement 2021. Palacios received the Nancy Dean Lesbian Playwriting Award 2020. Monica was Writer-in-Residence at Smith College 2019. Palacios received a Postdoctoral Rockefeller Fellowship from UC Santa Barbara. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa declared October 12, 2012 “Monica Palacios Day.”
