Community Quilt of Hope through August 15, 2023

LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes invites Los Angeles County residents to contribute to the Community Quilt of Hope, a participatory activity to construct portable artworks to be shared with her family and the community-at-large.

The Community Quilt of Hope is currently open to the public on the first floor of LA Plaza’s museum and will remain so until mid-August. In this interactive space, guests are invited to write or draw on a fabric square their personal message to Gloria, indicating how she inspired them to make change in their own community. After 169 fabric squares are completed, they will be sewn together by members of TELAS (The East Los Angeles Stitchers), an organization Gloria has participated in for many years.

Interactive Prompt:

How has Gloria Molina inspired you to make change in your community?

On a cloth square, draw or write a message to Gloria Molina letting her know how her work has inspired you to strengthen your own community.

When finished, please place your design in the left tray. They will be gathered and sewn together to make a community quilt of hope for her loved ones.

Share your design on social media! #laplazala, #quiltofhope_LA, #gloriamolina

In lieu of flowers, Gloria Molina’s family requests that donations be made to LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes in her memory to inspire and empower future generations through the arts.
