It is with deep sadness that LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes shares the difficult announcement that our founder, Gloria Molina, has been battling terminal cancer that, at this point, is very aggressive, according to a message posted on her Facebook page.
Gloria was the person most responsible for bringing LA Plaza to fruition, first as Los Angeles County Supervisor for the First District, and when she retired from that position, as an active and engaged member of LA Plaza’s Board of Trustees, instrumental in the development of LA Plaza Village and LA Plaza Cocina.
Her storied and illustrious career has not only bettered the lives of the millions of Angelenos, but also served as guiding light and inspiration for Latinas who followed her path into public office and community activism. We celebrate her accomplishments and offer our love and support to her and her family.
An exhibition at LA Plaza in tribute to Gloria is under development. View videos of Gloria on our YouTube page.
