The Historic Paseo Walkway extends three city blocks from Broadway to Main street in Downtown Los Angeles, an urban area surrounded by freeways and busy boulevards that lack trees and green space. The proposed expansion park site is adjacent to several of the City’s most historic sites, including Ft. Moore, La Placita Church, Olvera Street, Campo Santo Cemetery, LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, and five additional museums in the immediate area.
The Paseo Walkway is used by a variety of community members: LA Plaza Village residents seeking a safe and direct path to public transportation at Union Station; Olvera Street visitors; La Placita Church attendees; tourists; and those seeking respite from the hustle and bustle of nearby streets, freeways and businesses. The Paseo Walkway offers a lush green escape, with tables and chairs and shade structures.
LA Plaza is developing design plans for the second phase of construction on the Historic Paseo Walkway. Join us to hear about the proposed new features and project timeline.
We’re seeking community input on this long-awaited project. What features matter most to our neighbors? What would you like to see included?
