Los Angeles (July 18, 2024) – LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes announces the 13th Annual Pobladores Awards Gala, to be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes in Downtown Los Angeles. This event celebrates the significant contributions of individuals and organizations to the Latino community in Los Angeles County. 

This year, LA Plaza will honor Maria Salinas, President and CEO of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, PEPSICO, and Teresa Samaniego, Vice President of Diversity and Community Engagement at ABC7. The tremendous accomplishments and inspirational journeys of these honorees exemplify the spirit of leadership, strength, and commitment to service and community. 

Maria Salinas has been a trailblazer in the business community, advocating for economic growth and opportunity. As the first woman and Latina to lead the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, her leadership has been instrumental in driving initiatives that support local businesses and enhance the economic vitality of the region. 

PEPSICO is a leader in corporate responsibility and community engagement and a longtime supporter of LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes. Their commitment to sustainability, diversity, and inclusion has made a significant impact on communities across Los Angeles and beyond. Teresa Samaniego has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to fostering diversity and promoting community engagement through her work at ABC7. Her efforts have raised the voices of underrepresented communities and inspired countless individuals to act and make a difference in the world. 

The Pobladores Awards Gala is a celebration of the shared heritage of Latinx people in Los Angeles and a platform to highlight LA Plaza’s educational, exhibition, and programming initiatives. As the culminating event of Latino Heritage Month, more than 400 esteemed cultural, business, and government leaders gather for an unforgettable celebration of unity, culture, and achievement.
